The ideal Mesquite and St. George golf trip covers four days, six to eight rounds across both destinations, and includes desert courses ranked among the best in Nevada and Utah. Start in Mesquite with Wolf Creek and Conestoga, then drive 80 minutes west to St. George for Sand Hollow, Entrada, and The Ledges. This itinerary covers exact tee time strategy, drive times between courses, where to eat, and how to make the most of every day.
Why Combine Both Destinations
Most golf trips to southern Nevada stick to Mesquite. Most Utah golf trips stay in St. George. The problem with both approaches is that you're leaving half the best courses on the table.
Mesquite and St. George sit just 80 minutes apart on I-15, and between them they offer 22 courses — from dramatic cliffside layouts to red rock desert masterpieces. Combining both destinations gives your group access to courses you genuinely can't play anywhere else, with scenery that ranges from the lunar landscapes of Wolf Creek to the crimson sandstone of Sand Hollow.
The logistics are easier than you'd think. One car move on Day 3, straight shot on the interstate, and you're in a completely different golfing landscape. Here's how to structure the perfect four-day trip.
Arrive in Mesquite + Afternoon Warm-Up Round
Morning: Fly into Las Vegas, Drive to Mesquite
Land at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas. The drive to Mesquite is 80 minutes northeast on I-15 — flat, fast, and scenic once you hit the Virgin River Gorge. Pick up your rental car and head straight out. If your flight lands before 10 AM, you can comfortably make an afternoon tee time.
Afternoon: CasaBlanca Golf Club or Falcon Ridge Golf Club (1:00 PM Tee Time)
Start with a course that eases you into desert golf without beating you up on Day 1. CasaBlanca is the most forgiving Mesquite course — wide fairways, manageable length, and it's right in town so you minimize drive time after the road trip. Falcon Ridge is another good opener with more elevation change and better views, but it demands more accuracy off the tee.
Book a 1:00 PM tee time. This gives you a buffer for flight delays, rental car pickup, and the drive from Vegas. Afternoon rates are also lower at most Mesquite courses. In fall and spring, you'll have daylight until 6:30–7:00 PM, so there's no rush.
Evening: Dinner in Mesquite
Mesquite is a small town, so dining options center around the casino resorts. The steakhouse at CasaBlanca Resort is solid for a group dinner. Katherine's at Eureka Casino Resort is the local favorite for a nicer sit-down meal. For something casual, the sports bars at both casinos work for large groups without a reservation.
Where to Stay
For the first two nights, base yourself in Mesquite. The CasaBlanca Resort and Eureka Casino Resort are the go-to hotels — both have golf packages, on-site dining, and they're central to everything. For groups of 6+, the Golfer's Paradise Mansion or The 19th Hole Mansion are purpose-built for golf groups with game rooms, hot tubs, and room for everyone under one roof.
The Trophy Day — Wolf Creek + Conestoga
Morning: Wolf Creek Golf Club (7:30 AM Tee Time)
This is the round your group will talk about for years. Wolf Creek is consistently rated among the top public courses in America, and for good reason. The course is carved through canyons and ridgelines with elevation changes that feel impossible — tee shots that drop 100+ feet into valleys, approach shots across chasms, and views that stop you mid-swing.
Wolf Creek Golf Club
Consistently ranked among the top 100 public courses in America. Carved through canyons with 100+ foot elevation drops, Wolf Creek is the round your group will talk about for years. Featured in the EA Sports Tiger Woods video game.
Wolf Creek plays long and difficult from the tips (7,028 yards, par 72), so pick the right tees for your group. Most recreational golfers should play the white or gold tees. Budget 4.5–5 hours for the round. Bring a rangefinder — the elevation changes make distance judgment nearly impossible by eye.
Afternoon: Conestoga Golf Club (1:30 PM Tee Time)
After Wolf Creek's drama, Conestoga offers a different kind of challenge. This is a desert target-golf course with dramatic rock formations, pristine conditions, and a layout that rewards smart course management over pure power. Many golfers consider it the best-conditioned course in the region.
Conestoga Golf Club
Desert target golf at its finest. Red rock outcroppings frame the back nine's most photogenic holes, and the conditions are immaculate. The perfect afternoon companion to Wolf Creek's morning theatrics.
Evening: Recovery + Light Dinner
After 36 holes of serious golf, keep the evening simple. Grab food at one of the casino restaurants, soak in the hot tub if you're at a vacation rental, and get to bed at a reasonable hour. Tomorrow's another double day.
Move Day — Drive to St. George + Two Rounds
Morning: Sand Hollow Golf Course (8:00 AM Tee Time)
Check out of your Mesquite lodging, load the clubs, and drive 80 minutes west on I-15 to Sand Hollow. This is the most efficient move — Sand Hollow is on the east side of St. George, so it's the first course you'll hit coming from Mesquite.
Sand Hollow Golf Course
Built on red sand dunes with lava rock features. The John Fought design blends links-style golf with desert terrain unlike anything in Mesquite. The signature red sand bunkers alone are worth the trip.
Afternoon: Coral Canyon Golf Course (2:00 PM Tee Time)
Coral Canyon is 20 minutes west of Sand Hollow, toward central St. George. It's a Keith Foster design set in a red rock canyon with dramatic elevation changes and jaw-dropping views of Snow Canyon State Park. The signature 16th hole plays across a deep canyon — one of the most photographed holes in Utah.
Evening: Check into St. George Lodging + Dinner
After your afternoon round, check into your St. George accommodations. For vacation rentals, communities near Entrada and The Ledges put you close to tomorrow's courses. Hotels like Hilton Garden Inn or Hyatt Place are centrally located with easy access to dining.
St. George has significantly more restaurant options than Mesquite. Wood Ash Rye is excellent for steaks and cocktails. George's Corner has a great patio and casual American menu. Benja's Thai & Sushi is surprisingly good. Cliffside Restaurant in the Hilton offers views of the red cliffs at sunset.
The Grand Finale + Departure
Morning: Entrada at Snow Canyon or The Ledges Golf Club (7:30 AM Tee Time)
End your trip with one of St. George's two most exclusive courses. Both are bucket-list layouts, so the choice comes down to what your group values.
Entrada at Snow Canyon
A Johnny Miller design set against red and white Navajo sandstone. Lava rock features and petrified sand dunes make it feel like you're golfing on Mars. Limited public access makes this feel like a privilege.
The Ledges Golf Club
Perched on cliffs with panoramic views of the entire St. George valley. The Matt Dye design uses natural ledge formations for dramatic risk-reward holes. The par-3 15th — ledge to ledge over a canyon — is one of the most memorable in Utah.
Book the 7:30 AM tee time regardless of which course you choose. Early morning light in St. George is extraordinary — the red rocks glow — and finishing by noon gives you flexibility for flights.
Optional: Quick 9 at Sunbrook Golf Club (12:30 PM)
If your flight isn't until evening and you can't stop golfing, Sunbrook offers a great quick nine. The Pointe nine is just 30 minutes and features the famous lava-tube hole — a par 3 where you play over a massive lava flow. It's a fun, low-pressure way to close out the trip.
Departure
St. George has its own regional airport (SGU) with flights to Denver, Salt Lake City, and seasonal routes. Otherwise, the drive back to Las Vegas is about 2 hours from St. George — plan to leave by 3:00 PM for a 6:00 PM flight from LAS.

Tee Time Strategy
Desert golf tee time strategy depends entirely on season.
October through April (peak season): Book early morning tee times (7:00–8:00 AM). The weather is perfect in the morning, and afternoon rounds are comfortable. Green fees are highest during this period, but the conditions and temperatures are ideal.
May and September (shoulder season): Book the earliest tee time available. You want to finish by early afternoon before the heat peaks. Afternoon rounds are still possible but expect temperatures in the 90s. Green fees drop significantly.
June through August (summer): Tee times before 7:00 AM are essential. Many courses offer twilight rates that start as early as noon, but playing in 100°F+ heat is brutal. Summer is the cheapest time to play, but the heat is a real factor. If your group can handle it, the savings are substantial.
What to Pack
Desert golf has specific gear requirements that differ from most other destinations. You'll want plenty of sunscreen (reapply at the turn — the desert sun is relentless), a rangefinder (essential at Wolf Creek and The Ledges where elevation changes make distances deceiving), extra golf balls (desert rough swallows golf balls, and so do the canyons), layers for morning rounds in fall/winter when it can be 45°F at 7:30 AM and 75°F by noon, and a hat with good sun coverage.
Making It Your Own
This itinerary is a template, not a prescription. Some groups want to play 36 holes every day. Others want to mix in a hike at Zion National Park (40 minutes from St. George) or Snow Canyon State Park (15 minutes). Some groups skip Day 1's warm-up round in favor of arriving early and spending the afternoon at the casino or pool.
The beauty of combining Mesquite and St. George is flexibility. With 22 courses between the two destinations, you can build a trip that matches your group's pace, budget, and skill level. Swap in Copper Rock if your group loves new courses. Try Black Desert Resort if you want the newest, most talked-about course in the region. Play Oasis Golf Club in Mesquite if you want two contrasting nines on one property.

Plan My 4-Day Golf TripFrequently Asked Questions
How far is Mesquite from St. George?
Mesquite, Nevada and St. George, Utah are approximately 80 minutes apart via I-15. The drive is straightforward interstate driving through the scenic Virgin River Gorge. Most groups make this move on Day 3 of a four-day trip.
How many rounds of golf can you play in four days in Mesquite and St. George?
Most groups comfortably play six to eight rounds across four days — one round on arrival day, two rounds each on Days 2 and 3, and one or two rounds on departure day. This pace allows time for meals, travel between courses, and recovery without feeling rushed.
What is the best time of year for a Mesquite and St. George golf trip?
October through April is peak season with ideal temperatures in the 60s and 70s. March, April, October, and November offer the best combination of weather, course conditions, and availability. May and September are good shoulder months with lower rates. Summer (June–August) is the cheapest but temperatures regularly exceed 100°F.
Should I fly into Las Vegas or St. George for this trip?
Las Vegas (LAS) offers more flight options and typically lower fares. The drive to Mesquite is 80 minutes, and you return via St. George to Las Vegas (2 hours) on departure day. St. George Regional Airport (SGU) has limited flights to Denver and Salt Lake City, which can work if those are your origin cities.
Do I need a rental car for a Mesquite and St. George golf trip?
Yes. Unlike resort destinations where everything is on-site, Mesquite and St. George courses are spread across the region. You'll need at least one car per four golfers. Most groups rent SUVs or minivans to fit golf bags comfortably.
Can this itinerary work for a three-day trip instead of four?
Yes. Drop the Day 1 warm-up round and fly in the evening before. Start with Wolf Creek on the morning of Day 1, do the Mesquite-to-St. George move on Day 2, and play your finale round on Day 3 morning before departing. You'll play four to five rounds instead of six to eight.
