Got 2–4 hours between your morning and afternoon rounds? Southern Utah has some of the best quick adventures in the country right outside the clubhouse door. Here are the best hikes, water activities, ATV trails, and scenic drives — all timed to fit your golf schedule and mapped to the nearest courses.

Red Cliffs Desert Reserve — Babylon Arch Trail

1.5 hrs round tripEasy–Moderate

A short desert trail leading to a stunning natural arch. Red rock scenery the entire way with minimal elevation gain.

💡 Golfer tip: Start by 7 AM if you have an 11 AM tee time. Bring a liter of water per person — the desert is deceptively dry.

Snow Canyon State Park — Jenny's Canyon

30 min round tripEasy

A quick slot canyon walk that feels like stepping into another world. Perfect for a group photo op.

Walk across ancient petrified sand dunes with panoramic views of Snow Canyon. No marked trail — just explore the formations.

Sand Hollow Reservoir — Kayaking & Paddleboarding

Crystal-clear water surrounded by red sandstone. Rent kayaks or SUP boards right at the reservoir. The water is warm from May through October.

💡 Golfer tip: Sand Hollow the course is literally next door. Play 18 in the morning, paddle in the afternoon. Rentals available on-site.

Quail Creek Reservoir

Warmer water than Sand Hollow, excellent for swimming and boating. Less crowded on weekdays.

💡 Golfer tip: Great option if Sand Hollow is busy. The water temperature is usually 5–10 degrees warmer.

Lazy river float through town on a hot afternoon. Several rental outfits set you up with tubes and shuttle you back.

Sand Hollow OHV Area — Sand Dunes

Massive sand dunes right next to the reservoir. Rent UTVs or ATVs and rip through the desert. Guided tours available for beginners.

💡 Golfer tip: Book with a local outfitter who provides helmets, training, and guides. Groups of 4–8 can ride together.

Hurricane Rim Trail — Jeep Tour

Guided Jeep tours along the Hurricane Cliffs with views of Zion in the distance. No driving skill needed — a guide takes you.

Warner Valley Dinosaur Tracks

Drive out to actual dinosaur footprints preserved in sandstone. A quick detour that feels like a mini Jurassic Park.

💡 Golfer tip: Do this on your way to or from Entrada/Ledges — it's on the route and adds minimal time.

Zion Canyon Scenic Drive

Drive into Zion National Park, ride the shuttle through the canyon, and take in the iconic views. Even a quick visit is unforgettable.

💡 Golfer tip: Go early (before 9 AM) or after 3 PM to avoid peak shuttle waits. Spring and fall are the sweet spot.

Smithsonian Butte Backroad

A lesser-known dirt road with jaw-dropping views of Zion from above. Most passenger cars can handle it in dry conditions.
