Family Golf Trip Guide

A golf trip does not have to be adults-only. St. George has family-friendly courses, incredible kid activities, and vacation rentals with pools, game rooms, and bunk rooms that make it easy to bring the whole crew. Here is how to plan a trip where everyone — golfers and non-golfers, adults and kids — has the time of their lives.

Family-Friendly Courses

Not every course is right for families. These are the most welcoming, affordable, and fun-for-all-ages courses in the region.

Dixie Red Hills Golf Club

Ages: All ages9 holes — 2 hrs

A short, affordable 9-hole course right in St. George. Friendly atmosphere, reasonable pace, and no pressure. Perfect for introducing kids to golf.

💡 Tip: The most family-friendly course in the region. Low green fees mean the whole family can play without breaking the bank.

Green Spring Golf Course

Ages: All ages18 holes — 3.5 hrs

A scenic but forgiving 18-hole layout in Washington. Wide fairways and manageable distances make it great for junior golfers and beginners.

💡 Tip: Ask about junior rates. The course is well-maintained and the views are stunning without the difficulty of courses like Entrada.

Southgate Golf Club

Ages: All ages18 holes — 4 hrs

A classic St. George course with a relaxed atmosphere. Not as crowded as the premium courses, which means more comfortable pace for families.

💡 Tip: Great for a morning family round. Finish by noon and have the whole afternoon for kid activities.

Coyote Willows (Mesquite)

Ages: All ages9 holes — 1.5 hrs

A fun, quick 9-hole course in Mesquite. Short and flat — ideal for kids and casual golfers who want to play without the pressure.

💡 Tip: If you are staying in Mesquite, this is the go-to family course. Quick, fun, and affordable.

🎢 Kid Activities (While Parents Golf)

Drop the kids at these spots for a morning or afternoon of fun while the adults hit the links.

Thunder Junction Park

Fiesta Fun Center

Ages: 5+2–4 hrs

Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm

💡 Tip: The guided tour is worth it. The docents bring the tracks to life with stories about what made them.

Sand Hollow Aquatic Center

Indoor/outdoor public swimming complex with water slides, lazy river, and splash features. Open year-round.

💡 Tip: Affordable day passes. Great backup plan if the weather is too hot or cold for outdoor activities.

💡 Tip: The sand dunes trail is the #1 kid-approved activity in the area. Bring a sled or cardboard for sliding.

Sand Hollow Reservoir — Beach Day

Ages: All ages2–4 hrs

Sandy beaches, clear water, and gentle entry make this a natural family beach. Bring floats, sand toys, and a cooler.

💡 Tip: The south end has the sandiest beach areas. Arrive by 10 AM on summer weekends for the best spots.

Zion National Park — Riverside Walk

Ages: All ages (stroller-friendly)2–3 hrs

A paved, flat trail along the Virgin River that ends at The Narrows. Kids can wade in the river at the end. Stroller-accessible the entire way.
