Player-Friendly Municipal

About the Course
St. George, UT
Southgate Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-70 municipal golf course that blends a variety of terrain and playing experiences into one accessible layout just minutes from downtown St. George. The front nine weaves alongside the Santa Clara River and includes multiple water hazards that reward accuracy and thoughtful shot placement, while the back nine climbs toward the foothills of Tonaquint Mountain, offering scenic views of the surrounding red rock landscape and downtown area framed by desert vistas. With a course length of around 6,100 yards from the back tees, Southgate delivers a balanced challenge that’s enjoyable for a wide range of golfers without feeling overly long or intimidating.
What makes Southgate particularly appealing on a multi-day golf tour is its combination of variety, accessibility, and value. Because it’s a public, city-owned course with typically affordable green fees and a welcoming, player-friendly vibe, it’s a great complement to more dramatic or championship-level courses on your itinerary—perfect as a warm-up round, a relaxed mid-trip choice, or a laid-back finish. The mix of traditional and desert-style holes means you’ll experience both strategic water challenges and picturesque elevation changes, all while enjoying views that capture the character of southern Utah golf.
